The database server
Database server options
Sets the maximum number of requests that can run simultaneously by the database server. This option is only useful on multiprocessor systems.

All operating systems and servers except NetWare.
By default, on Windows operating systems, the network database server uses all CPUs available on the machine, the personal database server is limited to two processors, and the runtime database server uses a single processor. On UNIX, all database servers use all available processors by default.
