Operating system versions

Unless otherwise specified, operating system names correspond to the following versions:

Operating system 9.0.0
Compaq Tru64 4.0D or 5.1 on Alpha processors.
Linux Linux distributions are all based on defined versions of the kernel, the C library (glibc) and the ncurses library. The supported versions are as follows:

  • kernel    2.2.12 on SMP and UP, 2.4.18 on SMP, or 2.4.2 on UP

  • glibc    2.1.2, 2.1.3, or 2.2

  • ncurses    4.2

The following Linux distributions are among those that meet the above requirements.

  • Red Hat    6.1, 6.2, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, or Advanced Server 2.1.

  • SuSE    6.3, 6.4, 7.0, 7.2, 7.3, or 8.0 (but not 7.1)

  • Caldera    2.4 or 3.e

  • TurboLinux    6.1, 6.5 or 7.0

  • Mandrake    7.2, 8.0, or 8.1

Linux distributions are supported on x86-architecture processors.

The 64-bit deployment edition is available for Red Hat Advanced Server on Itanium 2 processors.
Hewlett Packard HP-UX 11.0 or 11i, 32-bit version on PA-RISC processors. HP-UX 11i is also supported in a 64-bit version on Itanium 2 processors.
IBM AIX 4.3.1 1 , 4.3.2, 4.3.3, 5.1, or 5.2 on Power PC processors
Mac OS X Mac OS X version 10.2.n, where n is 2 or higher
Microsoft Windows (32-bit) The following are supported:

  • Windows NT 4.0 or later

  • Windows 2000

  • Windows XP, including Windows XP embedded and Windows XP Tablet PC on x86-architecture processors.

  • A list of components required on the Windows XP Embedded image can be found at http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1019835.

  • Windows Server 2003, 32-bit versions.

  • Windows 95/98/Me.
Microsoft Windows (64-bit) Windows Server 2003, 64-bit versions.
Microsoft Windows CE Windows CE 3.0 operating system on any of the following processors:

  • MIPS processor

  • ARM processors, including the XScale series.

  • x86 processor. UltraLite supports the x86 processor for the Pocket PC 2002 emulator; Adaptive Server Anywhere supports x86 devices and emulation.

    The Windows CE emulator is also supported for development purposes.

Windows CE 3.0 includes support for Pocket PC, including Pocket PC 2002, as well as Handheld PC.

Pocket PC 2003 devices on the XScale (Intel PXA255) processor. Pocket PC 2003 devices run Window CE 4.2.
Novell NetWare 5.1 with service pack 6 and 6.0 with service pack 3 on x86-architecture processors.
Palm OS Palm Computing Platform devices running the Palm OS version 3.x or later.
Sun Solaris 7.0 2 , 8.0, or 9.0 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems on SPARC processors.
